Virgil was a famous Roman poet born in 70 BCE who grew up during the Roman Civil War, when riots and political turmoil were common in Rome. He moved to Naples at age 18 where he found more peace and wrote his collection The Eclogues about the tranquility of living outside of Rome. Virgil is known for quotes such as "Love conquers all" and "If I cannot bend the higher powers, I will move the infernal regions."
